The International Court of Justice is hearing oral arguments this week in advisory proceedings concerning Israel’s obligations to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Gaza. The Court will hear from 40 States and four international organisations. The proceedings follow UN General Assembly Resolution 79/232 by which 137 States, including the United Kingdom, voted to request the opinion of the Court amid “deep concern at measures taken by Israel that impede assistance to the Palestinian people” and “grave concern about the dire humanitarian situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory”.
Paul Reichler, Zac Sammour, Oliver Mills, Aliya Al-Yassin, and Samuel Willis represent the State of Palestine.
The proceedings have been widely reported, including by the BBC, The Guardian, Reuters, and UN News.
