Labour Leadership: Party wins Appeal regarding voting rights

Cases

The Court of Appeal has agreed that the National Executive Committee of the Labour does have power to set eligibility criteria for the Labour Leadership election: that members need to have joined the party on or before 12th January 2016 to vote in the election. The Court of Appeal held that this was clear on the wording of the Party’s rulebook; overturning the judgment of the High Court. The Court of Appeal has refused permission for the case to go to the Supreme Court.
