As has been widely reported, the comedian and television personality David Walliams recently brought a claim against the producer of Britain’s Got Talent (“BGT”), FremantleMedia, following the publication of comments made by Mr Walliams to other BGT judges during breaks in performances by The Guardian in 2022. The claim alleged that BGT had misused Mr Walliams’ private information, and breached his rights under the UK GDPR in various respects, including in relation to the disclosure to The Guardian.
The claim recently settled on confidential terms. The claim and settlement were widely covered in the national media.
Peter Lockley acted for Mr Walliams, instructed by Adam Morallee of Brandmiths.
