This half day seminar on 20th November 2017 will provide an update on recent developments in the law and the Chief Coroner’s guidance, and practical guidance on preparation and presentation of a party’s case to an inquest, including jury inquests. The specific topics covered will include:
- Update on recent cases & directions from the Chief Coroner
- Bounds of Art 5 and State detention (including hospital deaths)
- Preparing evidence and practical witness handling
- Inquest juries: when to have them, how to present cases to juries, tactical issues
There will also be a session on the handling of public inquiries and internal investigations.
